Breaking: Newly Released Interview - School Chaplaincy Gains Traction
National School Chaplains Association announces the newly released unscripted, on-camera interview with its founder. Rocky Malloy’s raw backstory progresses from escaping execution and imprisonment, to saving at-risk children overseas, which unfolded into building a culture-changing school chaplaincy program now growing in America.
News is spreading of the historical milestone. Never before has chaplain care been provided to public schools in the U.S. until 2023. NSCA officially established an unmet need and gaining momentum —extending the lifeline.
Motives and Methods
As the recent interview depicts, the vision started thirty years ago. During Rocky's quest to help-the-helpless; he was suddenly plunged into a situation that required immediate and dangerous action for the sake of an entire village. Moments like this exposes the heroic —even if the methods were unconventional.
On the battlefield of real life, not everyone gets the luxury of conventional preparation.
Likewise, the youth needs support early in life, especially in the school experience. Therefore, Rocky Malloy founded the National School Chaplains Association because students need help navigating the pressures of life during school hours. Chaplain care is present in other state and federal settings; yet the battle remains to make chaplains available in every school.
Watch Rocky’s backstory starting at the 54 second mark of the full video interview with Elliot Omanson, host of BACK$EAT BALLER$ . The second half describes school chaplaincy to date and going forward.
This article fills in the blanks with meaningful insight. Together, the genuine mission becomes clear: Impacting generations within the schools of 24 countries and growing.
It’s important to hear the whole story before jumping to conclusions. The rough backstory mentions shocking statements. The path to destiny sometimes requires grit; not only to survive, but to be an agent of change in atmospheres of strong resistance.
Arrested and Sentenced to Life
In Rocky’s efforts to ‘set the captives free’, he found himself arrested. Facing torture and death. He was incredibly saved from execution, but given a life sentence and thrown into prison. Miraculously, he was quickly released. (Witnesses confirm.)
One minute: A captured boat captain.
Next minute: Called to ministry.
God said; “I’ve set you free, now go do my work.”
Rocky’s true experiences as a prisoner, then a missionary, a pastor, and author is a reminder of Apostle Paul who wrote about himself as a prisoner of Christ. Paul said in Ephesians 4:1 “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”
When one is arrested by the love of God, they gladly serve the Lord with their whole life! A life sentence! A willing prisoner of Christ!
“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began” (2nd Timothy 1:8-9, ESV),
Foreign Mission Field to American Mission Field - (The New Frontier)
See an additional, short mission field VIDEO of Rocky while in war torn Honduras in the 1980’s and while in Bolivia 2005. Joske worked alongside Rocky in dire conditions. They soon married; as she noticed his compassion for the children and he read five chapters of the Bible every day after lunch.
On that mission field, the Malloys discovered that if they could get the starving, sex trafficked and organ-harvested street children orphans into a school; then the kids could have a chance to stay alive and flourish.
The trenches of the mission field was preparation for developing school chaplaincy. The needs apply to America’s youth. NSCA chaplains are trained for Active Shooter scenarios, threat assessment and prevention as well as skillfully trained to Stop the Bleed.
The vision is a call to action. Making Disciples: (Matthew 28:19)

~ ~ ~ The U.S. Constitution Founders’ Intent is now being honored and preserved. Chaplains represent God (not an organization). Encounters with a School Chaplain is voluntary and is without coercion or ulterior motives; yet without compromising the beliefs of each Chaplain. Expression without force is constitutionally protected. Chaplains do not proselytize, but are free to share the reason for the hope that is within them when asked.
CONCLUSION: Rocky Malloy appreciates Elliot Omanson, host of BACK$EAT BALLER$ for the video interview. Elliot takes select guests on a car ride for an unscripted conversation about the risks they took, and the grit required to build a legacy. The invitation is reserved for entrepreneurs and business owners who’ve built something real—and lived to tell the story. A donation is made to The I AM Foundation.
